Our Staff

When an individual applies for a position with Dovetail Care Services, we ascertain if the applicant is suitable for the position for which they have applied. Part of our interview process establishes the applicants previous employment history, their abilities and any previous training within the caring profession. A full induction course is then completed to ensure the carer is familiar with the duties they will be performing, the training they will undertake or a refresher course as required. A police check is also conducted for security.

Our staff are trained to make suggestions for improvements to a clients' care. This may relate to equipment which may be required, adapting items in the home, or personal care such as toileting or bathing issues. These suggestions are made to improve the quality of life for the client.

Employee qualifications

Our employees are subject to an Induction course following their initial interview. The course topics include: The use of equipment, cleanliness and hygiene, food preparation, disposal of soiled items, honesty, loyalty and general conduct. The employee will be subject to spot checks and supervised on a regular basis.

As well as the induction course, our staff continually train for various qualifications that are held and need reviewing annually:-

- Basic food hygiene
- Manual handling
- Safer handling & moving
- Emergency first aid at work
- First aid awareness
- How to care for Dementia
- Pressure care & bed bathing
- Assisting with toileting & catheter care
- Health & safety
- Laundy care
- Sign Language
- Infection control
- NVQ2 and NVQ4
- SEN Nurse
